Join us for another Summer Friday event as we gather to enjoy the waning days of summer on Governor's Island, one of NYC’s hidden gems. This year we are hosting an in-person BBQ, gathering around the grill with Spark members and others in the design industry.
All are welcome — bring along your whole studio, colleagues, significant others, and friends. There will be a hot grill and picnic tables. Bring something to grill and whatever else you can carry, keeping in mind that bringing alcoholic beverages on to the island is prohibited. Some of the island’s vendors should be open selling alcoholic beverages and food. We will have plates, cups, condiments, and some buns and beverages on hand.
Note: Governor's Island is only accessible by ferry, easily reached via a short 10-minute ride departing from Manhattan or Brooklyn. Plan your trip with the ferry information and schedule here, and we recommend booking your ferry ticket in advance. The Governors Island Trust Ferry leaves from the Battery Maritime Building on South Street in Manhattan, with ferries departing at times including 2:00, 2:30, and 3:15 on Friday afternoon. Bikes are allowed on the ferry, and are a great way to get around Governor's Island.
